However\, smallholder farmers\, who make up the bulk of the agriculture in these countries\, are struggling to adapt to climate-related challenges. They lack the necessary innovation and tools\, resulting in lost productivity and income\, which ultimately slows economic development and long-term market potential. \n\n\n\nThe U.S. has long been a world leader in the agriculture sector\, due to early\, significant investments in agricultural research and innovation that have historically catalyzed global advances in crop production\, efficiency\, and trade\, and helped farmers adapt to extreme weather and disease shocks. However\, public investments in international and domestic agricultural research have stagnated in recent years. Today\, a multitude of challenges – including pest and disease outbreaks such as New World screwworm and avian influenza\, volatile weather\, increasing export competition\, and higher input costs – are now jeopardizing both American farmers’ livelihoods and global food and nutrition security. \n\n\n\nSpeakers will discuss investments in agricultural innovation as a powerful engine of economic growth and how these investments can help expand and diversify trade opportunities for U.S. producers. We will also discuss the critical role of innovation in helping farmers adapt to climate-related challenges and reduce sector emissions. Finally\, the panel will provide examples of investments that aim to create new market opportunities and income streams for U.S. farmers by extending beyond traditional food and feed markets into renewable materials\, fuels\, and other biobased products that strengthen rural economies while supporting global climate and sustainability goals. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nRose Barbuto\, Senior Adviser\, Farm Journal Foundation (Moderator)James Glueck Jr.\, Executive Director\, Plant Based Products CouncilSieg Snapp\, Program Director\, Sustainable Agrifood Systems Program (SAS)\, CGIAREric Mittenthal\, Chief Strategy Officer; the Meat InstituteMaddie Hokanson\, Minnesota Pork Board of Directors Member \n\n\n\nLocation: Blue Zone – USA Climate Pavilion (E180)\, presented by The Climate Registry \n\n\n\nWatch the recording \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember 15\n\n\n\n\n11AM – 12PM BRT · Innovative Energy Powering AI and Climate Ambition · Hosted by: Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) \nHear U.S. clean tech executives and state officials discuss how they are working to align a complex matrix of priorities\, including rising energy demand\, energy affordability\, economic development\, and investment in climate action. \n\n\n\nSpeakers will explore how artificial intelligence can strengthen forecasting and grid management\, accelerate the deployment of clean energy\, and drive greater adoption of energy efficiency. The discussion will also examine the role of public policy and the new forms of partnerships between government\, industry\, and communities needed to build the energy system of tomorrow. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nLisa Jacobson\, President\, Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) (Moderator)Julia Souder\, Chief Executive Officer\, Long Duration Energy Storage CouncilSophie Miremadi\, Vice President\, Global Government Affairs and Public Policy\, AVEVAGabrielle Peterson\, Global Director\, Content and Communications\, International Copper AssociationJames Glueck\, Executive Director\, Plant Based Products CouncilSandy Grace\, Vice President\, U.S. Policy & Regulatory Strategy\, National Grid \n\n\n\nLocation: Blue Zone – USA Climate Pavilion (E180)\, presented by The Climate Registry \n\n\n\nWatch the recording \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember 17\n\n\n\n\n11AM – 12PM BRT · Natural climate solutions in California and Brazil: Building bridges between goals and implementation · Hosted by: The Nature Conservancy (TNC) \nFocus will be on California and Brazil efforts to move from climate goal setting to implementation of nature-based climate solutions goals and inclusion of indigenous communities and knowledge. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: Laura Crane\, Director California Climate Program\, The Nature Conservancy (Moderator)Jason Gray\, Project Director\, Governors’ Climate and Forests Task ForceMailza Gomes\, Vice Governor of AcreKaren Ross\, California Secretary for Department of Food and AgricultureChristina Snider-Ashtari\, California Secretary for Tribal AffairsMarco Lagos\, Rondônia Secretary for Environmental Development (SEDAM)Francisca Arara\, Acre Secretary for Secretariat of Indigenous Peoples \n\n\n\nLocation: Blue Zone – USA Climate Pavilion (E180)\, presented by The Climate Registry \n\n\n\nWatch the recording \n\n\n\n\n1PM – 2PM BRT · Why you should care about the new generation of advanced geothermal energy – a 24/7 renewable energy source · Hosted by: The Climate Center \nAdvanced Geothermal Energy Systems (AGES) have the potential to provide a very low greenhouse gas (GHG) baseload energy resource almost indefinitely. AGES\, including Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and Closed-Loop Geothermal Systems (CLGS)\, are generating enthusiasm for their potential to revolutionize clean energy. These systems aim to overcome the geographic limitations of conventional geothermal\, which relies on naturally occurring reservoirs near the Earth’s surface of heat\, fluid\, and permeable rock. \n\n\n\nAGES are a perfect complement to solar and wind resources and may be the replacement for natural gas as utilities search for baseload power driven by data center development. As these systems are developed\, the wrongs of the past must not be repeated. Potentially impacted communities must be robustly engaged in decision making early in the process to ensure local benefits and environmental protection. \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Barry Vesser\, Chief Program Officer\, The Climate Center \n\n\n\nLocation: Blue Zone – USA Climate Pavilion (E180)\, presented by The Climate Registry \n\n\n\nWatch the recording \n\n\n\n\n3PM – 3:30PM BRT · U.S. States: Keeping Climate Action Alive in ’25 Press Conference · Hosted by: The Climate Registry \nRepresentatives from U.S. states discuss opportunities and actions that they are taking to advance clean energy\, decarbonization\, resiliency\, and healthy communities in the absence of federal support for climate related programs. \n\n\n\nSpeakers:Amy Holm\, Executive Director\, The Climate RegistryTravis Kellerman\, Senior Policy Advisor Energy\, Minerals and Natural ResourcesDepartment of New MexicoRep.
