Net-Zero Portal at COP27

Net-zero emissions continued to be a prominent theme at COP27, which was reflected in The Climate Registry’s activities at the conference. Our Pathways to 1.5 Pavilion included an interactive display featuring the Net-Zero Portal, TCR’s latest registry tool scheduled for public release in January, 2023. Visitors to the pavilion were offered access to a demonstration version and guidance from staff involved with its creation.

Additionally, the pavilion hosted a Net-Zero Reporting and Pathways panel on the main presentation stage, featuring corporate net-zero sustainability experts from the United Nations, Uber, TCR, Abt Associates, and Edison International. Watch a recording of the session here

COP 27 also saw the release of two important net-zero guidance documents prepared with input from TCR representatives in the months leading up to the conference. These were the ISO IWA 42 Net Zero Standards which provides global guidance on net-zero target setting and the Integrity Matters report from the UN Net Zero Expert Group providing ten recommended strategies for improving the quality and transparency of net zero commitments from non-state actors.
