Dear TCR community,

It’s with gratitude and excitement that I’m writing to share my recent step into the role of Executive Director of The Climate Registry. I bring more than 25 years of experience reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across industries including IT, utilities, and agriculture, and I’ve helped develop more than 20 GHG accounting standards, with work published in journals including Carbon Management, Rangeland Ecology & Management, and Climate Policy. I’m honored to bring that experience to TCR at a moment when the stakes for high-quality GHG reporting have never been higher.

We are at a critical time. The GHG Protocol is in the process of revising 11 different standards, the most in the organization’s history. This November, companies with more than $1 billion in revenue will be required to report to the California Air Resources Board in compliance with Senate Bill 253. Five other states have considered similar legislation. The importance of accurate and transparent reporting on a company’s GHG emissions could not be greater — and it’s exactly this work that drew me to TCR.

As I take the reins, I want to thank Amy Holm for her immense contributions over her 15 years of service to TCR, including the past seven years as Executive Director. Amy strengthened our technical foundation, expanded our programs and partnerships, built powerful convenings, and elevated the voice of U.S. states, cities, tribes, businesses, and other subnational leaders in the global climate conversation. I’m pleased to share that Amy is continuing to serve as a senior advisor and lead TCR’s engagement at our key events: the 2026 California Climate Leadership Forum at New York Climate Week and our 17th delegation to the United Nations Conference of Parties.

As we enter this next phase of measuring, monitoring, reporting, and verifying emissions, your voice will be critical in continuing to shape high-quality reporting. TCR members have a unique perspective: over 1,000 organizations like yours have completed more than 2,000 verified GHG reports across 20+ sectors. You have demonstrated the transparency, accuracy, completeness, consistency, and comparability of emissions data that are the cornerstones of high-quality GHG reporting.

That perspective is exactly why my priority as Executive Director is to deepen collaboration among members to help shape this next stage of climate reporting. Few groups in the country know better than TCR members what it actually takes to produce a quality emissions report, and I want to make sure that knowledge helps set the direction for where our reporting practices go next.
